Route Refinery analyzes route files that people choose to upload, in order to measure and describe the route.

Uploaded routes

Your uploaded route file is processed to produce the analysis you asked for, and it is not kept as a stored route file after the request finishes.

Diagnostic records

For operational troubleshooting and reliability, Route Refinery may retain a limited diagnostic record of an analysis. That record may include the route title, the place names and route facts the analysis measured, the generated description, and technical details about how the description was produced. It does not include the uploaded route file or the route's full coordinate geometry.

No retention period is promised: these records are kept for operational troubleshooting rather than on a defined schedule.

External services

Route Refinery uses external map data and AI services to perform parts of the analysis. Information needed to perform those functions — such as locations along the route, and the measured facts a description is written from — may be sent to those services.

Route privacy

A route file can reveal personal information through its start point, destination, or named places. Avoid uploading routes containing locations you would not want represented in the resulting analysis.

Advertising

Route Refinery uses Google AdSense, Google's advertising service. Google may use cookies or similar technologies in connection with serving and measuring advertising on this site.
